"Went to this location a LOT in the 90s and 2000s, but just stopped before Covid (and about the time she rebranded from Don Jose. I was there twice last year with the second visit worse than the first. This last time we entered shortly after the opening. We sat right away and we were the only guests back then. But it took (literal five minutes for a busboy to deliver chips and salsa, five more minutes to get our drinks and then 10 more minutes to appear for our waiter! (20 minutes! Our meals came out at a reasonable time, but the flavors (meat, sauces, spices were quite down from our previous visit just three months ago, and more so from three years ago! Then we had to wait a while to get our check. When we went to pay, the checkout was tried to ring various to-go orders while hearing other workers, explaining the bags of food through the register for delivery services. Then there were about four customers who wanted to pay their cheques and about eight other people are waiting to be sitting. Bad service, bad food, bad organizational skills... Our last time here was definitely our LAST TIME here."

"We used to live in a location with some GREAT Mexican food. Since moving to OC I haven't found too many locations that was the right kind of food I was looking for. But this place. This place had the RIGHT kind of food. It was delicious! And there was excellent customer service the whole time! Always checked in on us, refilled waters, always super nice. If you want a classic to start out with, I got the wet carne asada burrito, delicious and great portion. My wife got the Chile relleno and they have a special white sauce that is to die for."

"We enjoy going to Perla. Brody the bartender makes wonderful cocktails and gives excellent service. We like to sit at the bar when we go there. I only have one thing to add which is the noise level. With the television and music on it is still hard to have a conversation. Everyone there is so welcoming and we always have a great time."
