The waitress, who also acted as the hostess, was exceptionally friendly towards me as a solo diner. Even though she had a large table to attend to nearby while I was eating, she remembered every dish I ordered. The sushi was amazing and surprisingly inexpensive! View all feedback.
What User dislikes about Oishi Japanese Restaurant:
The restaurant has a clean and pleasant atmosphere, and overall everything was great. However, my scallops had an unpleasant smell similar to ammonia. I couldn't quite identify the issue; I initially thought they might not be cooked properly, but they were definitely fully cooked. Unfortunately, they just had a really off-putting odor. The service was excellent. We dined at the hibachi, and the chef was remarkable—he kept the experience entertaining and engaged with everyone at the table. There was ample food to satisfy our appetites, and we even had some leftovers.
I excused myself to wash my hands in the men’s restroom, where I found a large puddle of water on the floor due to a leaky drainpipe under the sink—something that could have easily been fixed in 15 minutes. It was clear they were aware of the leak since they had wrapped a plastic sandwich bag around the pipe. The entire establishment had a foul odor. Upon exiting the restroom as quickly as I could, the stench near the kitchen was overwhelming. I glanced through the open doorway and saw that the kitchen area was chaotic and looked dirty. I returned to the table and informed my son that we were leaving. I wasn't willing to risk stomach issues during our vacation, and I was certain that staying there would have led to that outcome.
Oishi's food might be acceptable, but the overall experience left much to be desired, thanks to the shabby ambiance, unfriendly staff, and their failure to honor reservations. We made a reservation days in advance to celebrate a special occasion, only to be greeted by an unfriendly hostess who informed us that we would have to wait an hour to be seated. While it's understandable for restaurants to run out of tables, it's simply unacceptable to take reservations and then not uphold that commitment. To make matters worse, while we were left waiting, the hostess gave a shorter wait time to a larger party that walked in without a reservation, which felt incredibly unfair. Overall, this experience was not worth my time or money.
This place was out of control. Had to wait 30mins to sit WITH A RESERVATION!!! They never brought out the flowers I bought earlier for my wife, and to top it off, THEY CHARGED MY CARD TWICE FOR TWO DIFFERENT ORDERS. AMATUER AT BEST CORONA VIRUS AT WORST
It was for our friends Anniversary. Bought a groupon for 4 and we wanted to have brunch. They said that for a brunch they did not have enough cooks so rather than a Hibachi table the food would have to be cooked in the back and brought out. We asked them could we have Tempura instead? They said NO . SO ok we had Hibachi cooked in the kitchen.
