Definitely worth a visit! The fresh white or whole wheat sandwiches filled with egg mayo and chopped turkey salad are the most enjoyable I've had in a long time. The bread loaves, baked in-house, are a little limited in choice (just white or whole wheat) and a bit fluffy with not much weight or density. However, the cinnamon buns are the best I've had in PEI in five years. They are nice and moist with a layer of suga... View all feedback.
What Louise Klein doesn't like about Alberton Bakery and Deli:
Ordered two slices of meat pie and a bowl of clam chowder. The meat pie must have had a jar full of summer savoury, I have known idea what the meat was, saw but did not taste the onions. Every thing including the crust was completely overwhelmed by that one favour. To add insult it was improperly heated so still cold in the middle. My husband, the least picky, took one bite and refused to eat it. His clam chowder was... View all feedback.
This is a great little bakery, deli, and café! The food is great home-style cooking, and the bakery has all kinds of yummy pies, cookies, cakes, loaves, etc.We went in two days in a row for a simple egg-salad sandwich...it was great!! You can't even find that in many restaurants! They had bacon/egg/toast breakfasts for $2.99! You could get a good variety of meals--sandwiches/lasagne/burgers/chicken/roast beef etc. at a very reasonable price, and it was real food, not packaged. This is a VERY popular place, and the line-ups can be quite long, especially at lunch-time...but the staff are very efficient, and it does not take long to get your food. Even construction and labour workers were coming in for lunches on their breaks...Who would want to make a bagged lunch when they can get a hot meal for such a reasonable price??Well worth waiting for, if there is a line-up....and there is even a drive-thru take-out window!!
I visit my stepdad at the manor every few weeks and this is where I go to get a homemade meal. Their soups are great. It is self serve. If you show up at lunchtime be prepared to wait as this place is very popular with the locals. Treat yourself to a peanut butter ball for .75cents. If you are fortunate there will be homemade meat pie, the best I have ever had, including my own. Prices are very reasonable.
Tried the rolls and cinnamon rolls, kids loved both! Lots of choices of baked goods. Didn't get a chance to check out what looked like meal choices as well.
If you are looking for fast homecooked reasonable meals this is the place to go. Every day they have a lunch special or two but they sell out quick. It doesn't hurt to call ahead and have them hold a meal. Eat in or take out but you need to order at the counter first and pick up your food. You can pick up some bread or a pie to take home too! We love to go every Friday for their fish special.
I can only speak for the bakery side of things and the coffee but as far as I'm concerned the both are excellent. Baked goods are very cheap and always fresh and yummy. I'm a Tim's fan for coffee but this is my only alternative or I go without. The recipes are the simple ones like gramma makes. For me the peanut butter cookies are super and second are the cinnamon rolls. Both simple but good.
