"We were visiting family in the area and wanted a local restaurant for lunch. We had walked by this place a few times during the week and thought we might give it a try.We decided to split a 2 piece basked of Halibut between the three of us. The staff split the fries into three basket for us and we divided the fish ourselves. It was great.Two really decent sized pieces of fresh tasting fish, cooked perfectly in a batter that crisped up without absorbing too much oil. Dining on the patio on a weatherbeaten picnic table just seemed to add to the experience.The meal reminded me of a fish and chip dinner we had at "By the Beach" restaurant in Portugal Bay Newfoundland (not reviewed.) You would expect good fish and chips in Newfoundland but not necessarily in Harbord Village. If I lived in Toronto I would go back."

"Went there tonight. I got there at 7:40 but they refused to seat us saying that they were closing in 20 minutes. Physically the place is dingy and depressing at best. Don't take a date unless you want to end the relationship. The fish was...first class. We ate in the car. The cole slaw was dreadful unless you love excess vinegar and pepper in your food. The chips were also excellent. The soup is forgettable. The staff were uninterested bordering on rude. In summary, while it would be hard to find such good quality fish in Toronto, the negative factors outlined above tipped the balance against ever returning to this place again."

"A friend told us of this place-never knew it existed The owner Peter and his wife have been here for over 20 plus years and do the cookingWe went for take out and ordered the halibut and chips plus coleslawI asked if there were any onions in coleslaw and he said very quickly-"NO'Everything is homemadewhen we got home the food was still hotThe fish was excellent,the fries were superb and the coleslaw definitely not pre fabI can certainly recommend this placeThe price was inexpensive compared to other places we have eaten at-$12.95 per person for the Halibut plus taxes"

"By far my favourite fish and chips in Toronto!I’ve actually had cod and chips at a good fish and chips restaurant in London UK, 3days prior to visiting Old Yorke , and I can say that I’ll just stick to having fish and chips here. Food was good , friendly staff, and the prices are not bad at all. Separate entrance for take out , so watch where you enter!"
