"This is a place I 've always driven by, but for no real reason, other than the look of the outside, which could be really cheesy and verging on kitsch. However, it was summer and other places were crowded at the beach so we headed inland. The restaurant is between Foz do Arelho and Caldas da Rainha, closer to Foz. It was a Saturday and it had posted leitao on Saturday and Sunday (Sabado Domingo). Now I know why it is always busy for Sunday lunch. Leitao is baby pig and it is only good if freshly cooked, which it was. Sometimes, portions in PT are too big; but here, one was just right per person. There were great french fries with it and it was highly recommended. Lots of people ordered desserts (sobremesas). It is heavily favored by locals so more of a red wine place than a white. Our first bottle of white was flat and we turned it back. The second (a different wine) was great. We then ordered a half bottle of the same and the full bottle is a much better version of the wine than the half-bottle. The wine that we turned back was Bucelas (arinto grape) and we notices a number of bottles stored upright in a very warm area of the restaurant, so a likely reason for the problem with the wine. My friend and I both had leitao. Highly recommended and a bit pricey (I think each plate was 15 euros. We 'll definitely go back when we want leitao. Otherwise, the menu had a good selection of other grilled meats and fish."

"Please, wait for someone to be finished. at the end I went to the reserved table with my name; first waitress came to get the beverage order. we have asked a question about the menu of the day, a short notice: drinks first ' (and yes, we have asked politely in Portuguese. for that we had the owner to the table. Probably she had a very bad day, but friendliness was far away. we had the impression we had tolerated. the meal was very good, delicious! but when we ordered an extra glass of wine, it never came. never came, but was on the bill, along with 3 false (extra) articles. the staff of the last year was very good, but the attitude of the owner probably affects the staff. all new, all unfriendly a scrub for this place that has great potential. anyway we will be very happy before we look forward to the visitors to come here."
